Emergent Quanta: Instructions

From Dust...

To begin the simulation, you press the green play button in the top left. If you have not added any particles at this point this would be pretty boring as you wouldn't have anything to look at. If you want to go back to a fresh canvas, press the reset button under the play button. Do note that this does not automatically pause the simulation.

World Settings

Boundary:

Can be toggled on or off, with particles wrapping around when off

Max Particles:

Prevents the creation of any more particles by interactions when the limit is reached

Click Settings:

Clicking can either be disabled, repel particles, or attract particles, and the magnitude can be set by the slider.

Gravity Settings:

Sets the global gravity for the simulation, which applies constant force to all particles. This can be toggled and the magnitude set in the X or Y direction with the sliders.

Adding Particles with Particle Settings

This menu allows you to add a new class of particles. When creating a class, you must set how many particles of that class you want to populate by setting the population field prior to creation. You cannot retroactively set the population.
You also cannot create a class of particles while the simulation is running. The simulation must be paused with the button in the top left if it is running in order to create new particles

Particle Interactions via the Particle Settings Menu

The background color of a set of interactions determines which particle class is being interacted with. The first box of a color shows the RGB code associated with that particle class. This code identifies the class and how it interacts with other classes.

Each section represents an interaction with another class of particles. The slider determines attraction/repulsion, and the drop-down boxes set the interaction type. OFF just means a collision, CREATE creates a particle of the kind selected from the next drop-down, and DESTROY will destroy the particle that is run into.

...To Dust

Once you have some particles created and some interactions set you can play the simulation. One thing to keep in mind is when a particle class is created it resets the interactions you have defined before.

Congratulations, you made it through the instructions, now you can go out there and play God.
